Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devender Yadav has criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for failing to deliver on his ambitious promises and for the state of the city’s infrastructure. Addressing these issues on Wednesday, Yadav pointed to several unfulfilled commitments made by Kejriwal, including transforming Delhi’s roads to match those of London, Paris, and Singapore, as well as the promise of a cleaner Yamuna by 2025 and improved sewer systems.
“Despite the lofty promises made in November 2021, such as desilting drains and improving sewer networks, the Kejriwal Government has only managed to create a dangerous model,” Yadav said. He added, “This model has already resulted in the tragic deaths of 10 children due to drowning from waterlogging and 20 overall, including those who lost their lives due to electrocution.”
Yadav further accused the Kejriwal Government of fostering corruption and incompetence, citing ongoing investigations into liquor scams and money laundering involving key AAP leaders. “The Supreme Court’s denial of interim bail to Kejriwal in the liquor policy case highlights the seriousness of the charges and casts a shadow over AAP’s recent celebrations over Manish Sisodia’s bail,” Yadav added.
He also welcomed the probe ordered by Lt Governor VK Saxena into the utilisation of MLA Local Area Development (LAD) funds. “Nearly Rs 70 to 100 crore have been allocated for development works in the past decade, yet very little has been spent effectively,” he said. “The probe will reveal the misuse of these funds, which could have been used to prevent waterlogging and improve infrastructure,” he alleged.
CBI case against Kejriwal strong: Sachdeva
New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government following the rejection of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s interim bail application by the Supreme Court in the liquor scam case. According to Sachdeva, the decision underscores the strong case the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) has made against the Delhi CM.
“The rejection of Arvind Kejriwal’s interim bail application by the Supreme Court shows that the top court, much like the Delhi High Court, finds the CBI’s case strong enough to keep him in custody,” Sachdeva stated. — TNS
