AAP: Kejriwal’s arrest without legal sanction
Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh on Monday termed former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI and ED as “completely illegal and unauthorised” as the agencies had not sought the mandatory sanction from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“MHA sanction is now being sought to prosecute Kejriwal, indicating his arrest was an unlawful act executed under BJP’s pressure,” Singh said.
“You arrested an elected Chief Minister, who won with an overwhelming majority, without obtaining prior sanction. And now, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is granting sanction. Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest was clearly intended to topple the Delhi government, destroy AAP and end Kejriwal’s political growth,” said Singh.
"We have managed to foil BJP's efforts to get voters' names deleted in many constituencies. This move could have resulted in a major electoral roadblock for us in the forthcoming elections, however we have done the damage control and are sure of our win. In fact we will repeat the performance of 2020 assembly elections," Singh told reporters.
The AAP leader claimed that the recently announced schemes like Sanjeevani and Mahila Samman by the Delhi government, will serve as gamechangers for it in the forthcoming elections.
