The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday launched a citywide campaign opposing the recently introduced school fee law, claiming that it will enable private schools to increase fee arbitrarily while ignoring concerns from parents.
The campaign was launched by AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj by distributing pamphlets outside a school in Sheikh Sarai-1. The party’s student wing Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP) will carry forward the campaign across all constituencies.
Speaking on the campaign, Bharadwaj said, “The BJP Government in Delhi has brought a law regarding private school fee. This law has been made completely in favour of private school owners. It is against the middle class and against parents. As part of the campaign, a pamphlet has been prepared, printed in English on one side and in Hindi on the other. The AAP is distributing this pamphlet to parents outside private schools in all Delhi Assembly constituencies.”
He added, “Today we chose a school in Greater Kailash constituency. On Wednesday, we will take another school, and in the same way, this pamphlet will be distributed outside all major private schools to make parents aware”.
Bharadwaj mentioned that party’s student wing sought a meeting with CM Rekha Gupta, but no time was given. Similarly, the Education Minister Ashish Sood also did not met with them, he added.
From August 19, every day in every Assembly constituency in Delhi, the ASAP will run an awareness campaign outside some private schools, distributing pamphlets to highlight the flaws of this law, Bharadwaj added.
