AAP: News of L-G’s sanction to prosecute Kejriwal false
In response to the reports of Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Vinai Kumar Saxena granting sanction to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in the controversial excise policy case, AAP leaders have vehemently denied that the L-G has granted any sanction to prosecute Kejriwal. Senior party figures, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Chief Minister Atishi, and Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, have called the news “false” and “baseless,” accusing the BJP-led government of spreading misleading information to distract from more pressing issues.

This news is false and misleading. Stop using rhetoric to divert attention from the issue of disrespecting Babasaheb and show where the sanction to prosecute was given to ED.— Manish Sisodia, former Dy CM, on X
Manish Sisodia took to social media, writing on X (formerly Twitter), “If LG Vinai Kumar Saxena has granted sanction to prosecute Arvind Kejriwal, then why isn’t the ED showing a copy of that sanction? This news is false and misleading. Stop using rhetoric to divert attention from the issue of disrespecting Babasaheb and show where the sanction to prosecute was given to ED.”
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also dismissed the reports, stating in a media interaction, “Since this morning, a baseless and false news story has been circulating. Delhi L- VK Saxena has not granted any approval for prosecution. If such approval has indeed been given, where is the letter? Show the letter if it exists.” Singh further questioned the motive behind keeping such a document, if it indeed exists, hidden from the public eye.
Chief Minister Atishi also addressed the controversy on X, stating, “If the LG has granted prosecution sanction against Arvind Kejriwal, then why does the ED have a problem in making the copy public? This news is being spread solely to mislead people and divert attention from real issues. BJP should stop these conspiracies.”
Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj added to the criticism, questioning the understanding of legal procedures by the Centre. “The BJP-led Central Government, with all its legal experts, and even the L-G himself, should know that prosecution sanction is a necessary step to initiate a case against a minister or a chief minister. They claim to have granted this sanction, but if there was no approval to prosecute, what was all the drama about?” Bharadwaj said.
In contrast, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva reiterated the party’s accusations against Kejriwal, labeling him the “kingpin” of the Delhi liquor scam.
