AAP supremo launches ‘Bachat Patra’ campaign
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched ‘Bachat Patra’ campaign, claiming that every family in Delhi saved Rs 25,000 monthly due to its government’s welfare schemes. If voted to power, AAP’s new schemes will add another Rs 10,000 to their savings.
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the AAP has announced 15 guarantees, including monthly financial assistance to women, free healthcare treatment for senior citizens, free bus travel from students and 50 per cent concession in Delhi Metro.
Kejriwal said under the AAP government, households were already saving Rs 25,000 per month through its existing welfare schemes. New initiatives would increase these savings to Rs 35,000 per month.
“Press the ‘jhaadu’ (broom) button to ensure the monthly saving of Rs 35,000,” he said.
The announcement of “Bachat Patra” campaign comes a day before the Union Budget. “Budget often leads to price hikes, affecting household finances. In contrast, the AAP government in Delhi has introduced various welfare schemes that benefit middle-class and lower-income families, providing savings of approximately Rs 25,000 per month,” Kejriwal said.
“Free electricity saves Rs 4,000-Rs 5,000 per month per family, free water saves Rs 2,000-Rs 2,500 per month, free bus travel for women saves around Rs 2,500 per month, free quality education save Rs 10,000 per month and free healthcare in Mohalla Clinics and government hospitals save Rs 5,000 per month. Adding up these benefits, every Delhi family saves approximately Rs 25,000 monthly,” the former Delhi Chief Minister said.
Kejriwal also announced the launch of a city-wide campaign where AAP workers will visit every home to fill out savings certificates.’ Volunteers will work with families to calculate their savings under AAP’s present and future schemes.
Kejriwal said he himself would visit a household to complete the first savings certificate, following which AAP leaders, candidates and volunteers will conduct a door-to-door drive across Delhi.
He alleged that the BJP government had waived off debts totaling to Rs 10 lakh crore of around 400 billionaires in the past five years. If the BJP comes to power, it would not only discontinue welfare schemes but also redirect Delhi’s treasury towards its billionaire friends, leaving ordinary citizens to suffer.
Kejriwal said the BJP was more interested in looting public funds and acquiring land rather than solving public issues such as inflation and unemployment.
