AAP’s corruption to be exposed soon: BJP’s MLA-elect Vijender
Vijender Gupta, newly elected BJP MLA from Rohini and former Leader of Opposition, on Sunday said AAP’s alleged corruption would be exposed soon. The new BJP government would table the 14 pending Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the first session of the Delhi Assembly.
While speaking to the media, Gupta claimed that these reports would reveal the scale of corruption under the leadership of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party.
Gupta accused the AAP government of deliberately withholding the CAG reports for over five years, despite repeated requests from opposition MLAs. He said despite efforts to raise the issue in the Assembly, AAP leaders ignored these calls and opposition members were met with hostility.
Gupta said he, along with six other BJP MLAs, had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding an order to compel the government to release the reports, but their efforts were stymied.
“The Kejriwal government feared that these reports will expose their corruption,” Gupta said, adding that the delay in presenting the reports was an attempt to shield the government from public scrutiny. He also emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new BJP government would ensure the CAG reports are tabled in the first session of the Assembly.
Gupta further called on the people of Delhi to carefully examine the reports once these are made public, urging them to “see for themselves how the AAP has looted the city over the past 10 years.”
Reassuring Delhiites, Gupta said the days of AAP’s alleged misrule were over. With the BJP now in power, he promised that the party would fulfill all promises made in its election manifesto and work toward a transparent and accountable government for the city.
AAP asks BJP to Focus on public issues
Meanwhile, responding to the BJP’s statement regarding the presentation of 14 pending CAG reports in the Delhi Assembly, the AAP has urged the opposition party to shift its focus from “negative politics” to addressing the real issues affecting the people of Delhi. In a statement issued on Sunday, AAP spokespersons said the BJP should honour its election promises, instead of diverting attention to allegations against the previous AAP government. “The BJP had promised to provide Rs 2,500 per month to all women in Delhi by March 8 as well as 300 units of free electricity. Now, it is time for them to deliver on those promises with honesty and ensure that their commitments to the people are fulfilled,” the party said. AAP also defended its leadership, particularly former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that Kejriwal is a “staunchly honest leader” against whom no charges have been proven to date. “We will continue to raise public issues and hold the BJP accountable for delivering on its promises,” the statement concluded.
