She joined the party in the presence of Union Minister of State for Ministry of Finance Harsh Malhotra. Delhi BJP’s committee coordinator for new joining Ashish Sood, chief spokesperson Abhay Verma and other senior party leaders, including former South Delhi councillor Dharmveer Singh, who also switched allegiances to the BJP, were among those present on the occasion.

In her address, Priyanka Gautam expressed her disillusionment with AAP, stating that she initially joined the party with high hopes but was disappointed by the lack of respect for the Jatav community and other marginalised groups. She accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of exploiting the community for political gains.

In a sharp critique of the AAP government, Harsh Malhotra accused Kejriwal of deceiving the people of Delhi, particularly women. He claimed that Kejriwal, despite promising to stay away from luxuries and live a simple life, has built a lavish residence for himself and is surrounded by excessive security.

Gautam said her decision to join the BJP was driven by a desire to be part of a party that values the voices of the people and was committed to addressing their real issues. She expressed confidence that under the BJP’s leadership, the concerns of her community and other marginalised groups would be taken seriously.
