The Delhi Government’s initiative of ‘Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings’ (Mega PTMs) held across all government schools on Saturday saw an overwhelming turnout of parents, despite the winter rains. The event, which has become a regular feature under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, provided a platform for parents to actively engage with teachers and discuss their children's progress.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi attended the Mega PTM at Sarvodaya Co-ed Vidyalaya No 2 in her Kalkaji constituency, where she expressed her delight at the enthusiastic participation of parents. “I am thrilled to see parents actively engaging in this initiative, which was launched during the tenure of the Arvind Kejriwal’s government,” she said.

CM Atishi highlighted the significance of the Mega PTMs, noting how such interactions were once a privilege of elite private schools but were now a regular and important event in Delhi’s government schools. “I spoke with many parents during the PTM, and they are extremely happy with their children's progress. The students themselves are confident and articulate. When children receive quality education, it not only benefits their families but also contributes to the progress of our country,” she added.

Parents shared their positive experiences, noting how their children were not only excelling academically but also gaining confidence. “When a child willingly attends school, it’s clear they are receiving quality education,” the CM said.

Speaking about the significant strides made in Delhi's education system, Atishi emphasised that students in the government schools were now fluent in English and performing at levels comparable to those in the best private institutions. “Parents are thrilled because the kind of education that was once available only in top private schools is now being provided in Delhi’s government schools,” she said.

Parents voiced their confidence in the education their children are receiving. “The teachers here go above and beyond, even helping children after school hours and addressing their difficulties,” said a parent of a Class 10 student. Another parent shared, “The positive atmosphere in schools has significantly boosted our children's confidence. Earlier, they hesitated to speak, but now they converse confidently in English.”

“Mega PTMs are essential because a child’s progress is not solely the responsibility of one individual. Our children will thrive only when teachers and parents work together to support their education,” Atishi concluded, adding that the success of Mega PTMs was a result of Arvind Kejriwal’s vision, which had fostered stronger connections between parents and teachers.
