The Delhi Police on Thursday rescued a 27-day-old infant, who was kidnapped from Rajouri Garden, West Delhi, an official said.
The police arrested five persons - Shubhkaran (36), his wife Sanyogita (27), their maid Maya (40), all residents of Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, and two juveniles - in this regard.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Darade Sharad Bhaskar said a woman lodged a complaint stating that her child had been kidnapped from near Pacific Mall in West Delhi.
After getting information, the police scanned over 200 CCTVs to trace the movement of the accused and the vehicle used in the crime. With the help of the CCTV footage, the police identified two juveniles and apprehended them, leading to the recovery of the infant, the DCP said.
Speaking about the modus operandi, Bhaskar said Maya noticed a woman living with a newborn on the roadside near Pacific Mall, Subhash Nagar. She conspired with the childless couple and the trio planned to abduct the child. The maid offered Rs 20,000 to the juveniles to execute the kidnapping.
