The Faridabad police have detained four suspects, including son of ACP Rajesh Lohan, over the murder of property dealer Manoj Kumar, who was crushed under the ACP's car in the Sector 12 area. DCP (Central) Usha confirmed that four suspects had been detained but she did not disclose their names.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the case, and the Section of murder has been added.
Meanwhile, the kin of the deceased continued to protest at BK Hospital until Tuesday afternoon. They demanded that they won't accept the body until the accused were arrested. The family alleged that the police were trying to protect the accused. This created a tense atmosphere in the hospital premises. Numerous personnel were deployed to prevent any possible escalation. However, after assurances from senior police officers, the family took the body for cremation at around 3.00 pm. It was during the wee hours on Monday that a Thar crushed Manoj Kumar, a resident of Lane No. 2, Nangla Enclave Part 2, Sector 12. His friends rushed him to a private hospital, but he succumbed to injuries.
According to the complaint, filed the deceased’s brother, the deceased along with his friends Anil Rana, Pravesh, Rahul, Aman, Shivam and Navdeep had gone to Vrindavan on Sunday. On the day of the incident, they reached Pravesh’s Sector 9 office at around 1 am, from there, Mandeep and Aman took their bikes and went a dhaba in Sector 12 to have food. It is alleged that when they reached the Sector 12 turn, the accused almost crashed into them. Mandeep and Aman protested, to which, the four accused in the Thar started abusing them. They tried to hit the motorcycle from the rear and later went away after threatening to kill the two. “When Aman and Mandeep didn’t return for long, my brother Manoj drove to the dhaba to search for them. Hearing about the spat, he decided to confront the accused. The four accused were performing stunts at the Ozone park. Manoj got out of his vehicle and tried to stop the car, but the driver crushed him and fled,” the deceased’s brother said.
