Gurugram, February 16
The Gurugram Deputy Commissioner has ordered that the registration of properties under 10 projects, builders of which were not cooperating in the ongoing process of structural audit, be stalled.
The builders of 10 out of the total 15 projects that were selected for the second round of structural audit have failed to pay their share of costs to the administration.
Earlier, during visual inspection in the first stage, major issues like seepage, exposed iron bars, falling plaster and cracks were detected in these societies. During the second phase of the structural audit, technical aspects such as strength safety and habitability status of projects are inspected.
Even after an year, these 10 builders have not paid their share of audit costs despite letters and warnings. Thus, the district administration has asked them to pay the amount in a week, failing which registration of any property in their projects would be stalled.
According to District Town Planner (Enforcement) Manish Yadav, Raheja Vedanta Sector 108, Park Place Sector 54 DLF, Raheja Atharva Apartment Sector 109, Signature Global Solera Sector 107, Paras Irene Sector 70A, Spaze Privy Sector 72, The Peaceful Homes Sector 70A, Central Park-2 Bellevue Sector 48, Tulip Awori Apartments and Mahindra Ora Sector 70A have still not paid their expenses, amounting to around 15 to 20 lakh each.
“These 15 societies were the worst in terms of structural safety. Their builders had agreed to pay for audit and repairs a year ago. However, 10 of these 15 builders have not paid the amount. We have empanelled experts, but are waiting for builders’ payment,” the District Town Planner told The Tribune.
DC Nishant Yadav today chaired a high-level meeting with builders and DTP officials. He expressed displeasure over the lack of cooperation from builders and ordered revenue officials to stall any registries in these projects if builders failed to pay up in a week.
The administration has allowed builders to opt out of choosing its empanelled audit agency. But then they must get their projects audited by an IIT or any agency of equivalent repute, following an NOC of their RWA. The builders have been given a week to get these agencies on board, if they choose so.
