Air quality body concludes 2-day training, awareness drive on dust-free roads

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM), through its Resource Lab, concluded a two-day training workshop and awareness activity in Faridabad and Gurugram aimed at promoting sustainable road design and dust control practices.

The initiative, held with the support of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) and Raahgiri Foundation, focused on capacity building and public engagement for air pollution mitigation in the National Capital Region (NCR).

This event marks the fourth in a series of workshops being conducted across nine NCR cities—Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhiwadi and Neemrana—to implement CAQM’s Standard Framework for road (re)development. The framework aims to reduce dust emissions and make urban spaces more pedestrian-friendly, accessible and environmentally sustainable.

The first day of the workshop in Faridabad brought together government officials, enforcement agencies, engineers, and other stakeholders for technical sessions and field-based exercises. Participants were trained in sustainable street design, dust abatement measures, and preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for cleaner and safer urban roads. The commission emphasised that dust-free roads were key to reducing particulate pollution across the NCR.

On the second day in Gurugram, CAQM conducted an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activity featuring a “walk-shop” showcasing Haryana’s first Model Street. The event included art installations, air quality awareness games and demonstrations of urban design elements such as walking and cycling paths.
