Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today presided over the Republic Day function organised by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi at Chhatrasal Stadium.
He said, “Today we salute freedom fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country, soldiers who have given their lives for us in the past 75 years and everyone who has contributed to the development of the country.”
He said, “The recent pran prathishtha of Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya was a moment of contentment for people across the country and abroad.”
He said the Delhi Government had already adopted the principles of “Ram Rajya”. He went on to enlist ten key areas where they have incorporated these ideals in governance.
He said his government was providing free ration so that no one has to sleep hungry. The government has also changed the notion that children belonging to rich families go to private schools while those from poor families go to government schools in the last eight years, he said.
He highlighted the facility of quality healthcare and premium facilities for all at government hospitals in the Capital. Besides, 24×7 electricity supply was being provided to all the citizens and eligible customers are also getting free power supply, he added.
The CM said water facility for everyone was another priority for his government. He said pension for senior citizens had also been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500.
He said, “Everyone should feel safe, so we have created the largest network of CCTV cameras in the world to facilitate citizens and help the Delhi Police.” He added that 10-12 lakh youths were provided jobs through mohalla clinics, schools, door-step delivery facility, etc.
Kejriwal said the Delhi Government had managed to keep the lowest inflation in the country at a mere 2.95 per cent. “Equality, irrespective of religion and caste, has been our tenth principle of governance,” the CM added.
Meanwhile, students of various schools enthralled the audience with their performances during the cultural programme. Girls of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Hari Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, presented a dance performance while students of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Palam Enclave No. 1, performed Bhangra. Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Mata Sundari Road, performed a traditional dance of Maharashtra, Gondhal. Children from Bal Bhavan Public School Mayur Vihar Phase-2 presented a patriotic dance performance.
