Amid protests, BJP, AAP spar over free LPG promise
The BJP and AAP engaged in a heated exchange over the issue of free LPG cylinders promised by the Rekha Gupta-led government on Thursday. While the AAP accused the BJP of failing to deliver on its commitment, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva asserted that the party remains committed to fulfil all promises made in its Sankalp Patra.
Addressing AAP’s protest, Sachdeva accused the party of engaging in "politics of lies, arrogance, and confrontation”.
“Atishi and AAP have always made false promises. Earlier, they protested our promise of providing Rs 2,500 to women, and now they are worrying about cylinders. I want to tell them that the BJP will fulfil all promises, but budgetary rules need to be followed. The people have rejected AAP, and soon, they will face worse conditions than the Congress,” he said.
In response, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj dismissed Sachdeva’s remarks, questioning why the Delhi government had not implemented the scheme yet.
“Firstly, Virendra Sachdeva is neither the chief minister nor a minister. The Delhi government should answer this. What administrative problem did they face that they couldn't fulfil the promise of free cylinders on Holi and Diwali made to the Hindus of Delhi? They have betrayed the people of Delhi,” Bharadwaj said.
The exchange comes as AAP continues to pressure the BJP over its poll promises, while the BJP maintains that its commitments will be met in due course.
