At 106, former ACP inspires generations

At an age when most lives are remembered only in memories, 106-year-old Baldev Raj Dutta is still writing his story of courage and survival.

A former Assistant Commissioner of Police, who once guarded former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as part of her personal security, Baldev today continues to inspire many people about discipline and healthier lifestyle.

Currently hospitalised and unable to speak, his 106 years of life speaks a lot about the former cop.

For this, he was felicitated by Sanjeevan Hospital, Daryaganj, along with the National Medical Forum (NMF), to celebrate not just his longevity, but his “indomitable will to live.”

For many in the audience, it wasn’t just a medical milestone — it was history in flesh and blood. His life spanned eras of changes, from colonial India to the Independence, from Nehru-Gandhian era to the current Narendra Modi regime among other notable transformations in the nation.

His journey from a young policeman to the rank of ACP has seen a huge transformation in the Delhi Police.

On this occasion, Robin Hibu, Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, gave a bouquet to the former cop, saluting his seniority as a cop.

Dr Prem Aggarwal, managing director of Sanjeevan Hospital and president of the NMF, said, “Honouring Baldev Raj Dutta is a tribute not only to his personal journey but also to the universal human spirit that refuses to surrender, no matter the odds. His life is a beacon of hope for patients and families battling illness and adversity.”
