At Delhi Assembly, painting contest marks Ambedkar Jayanti
To commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Friday hosted a painting competition featuring differently-abled children. The event, held on the Assembly premises, was a tribute to the life and legacy of Dr Ambedkar, celebrating his contributions to social justice and knowledge. Speaker Vijender Gupta, the chief guest at the event, paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar, and social reformer Jyotiba Phule.
In his address, Gupta lauded Dr Ambedkar’s enduring legacy as not only the architect of the Constitution but also a revolutionary thinker whose ideas continued to shape social movements across the country.
“Dr Ambedkar gave society the nectar of knowledge while enduring the poison of humiliation himself,” Gupta said. “His life teaches us the value of struggle, patience and inner strength. Life is a race — if we run it without being tired, we will surely reach our goals.”
Describing the contest as more than just a creative exercise, he said the artwork brought Dr Ambedkar’s ideas to life in vivid colour.
“A sketch can be more impactful than a thousand words,” he said, praising the children’s efforts.
Delhi Minister for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Welfare Ravinder Singh Indraj was the special guest at the event.
