Atishi claims ‘internal tussle’ in BJP over portfolio allocation
Outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday accused the BJP of making excuses to avoid fulfilling its poll promises and claimed that the party might backtrack on its promise to provide Rs 2,500 financial aid to women.
Addressing the media, Atishi—one of the senior AAP leaders who secured victory in the recent Assembly election—claimed that ‘internal tussle’ within the BJP over portfolio allocation have started to unfold.
“The BJP repeatedly assured that in its first Cabinet meeting, it would approve financial aid under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana and transfer Rs 2,500 to every eligible woman by March 8. However, sources indicate that the party has no intention of fulfilling this or other promises,” she claimed.
She alleged that the BJP would blame the outgoing AAP government for financial constraints. “They will say that the AAP put Delhi in a financial crisis, using it as an excuse to abandon their manifesto commitments,” she said.
Highlighting the AAP government’s financial track record, she Atishi said that Delhi’s budget had increased from Rs 31,000 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 77,000 crore in 2024-25 during its tenure.
