AAP leader Atishi, while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, called the summons to AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in an alleged Rs 2,000-crore classroom construction scam a “coordinated political vendetta”.

She alleged that the so-called classroom scam is just one among over 200 “baseless cases” filed against AAP leaders by BJP-led central agencies over the last decade.

“They claim a Rs 2,000-crore scam? Has even a single rupee been recovered? The reason behind these allegations is that the BJP’s four-engine government has nothing to show for its first 100 days,” Atishi said.

She defended the construction of 22,700 classrooms, calling them a model of quality public education. “Does the BJP want us to stop building schools for poor children? They are attacking AAP because we are proving that government schools can offer better facilities than private ones,” she added.

Atishi further alleged that the BJP is trying to sabotage reforms in education by questioning the purchase of sports kits, computer labs and quality infrastructure. “Should only children from elite schools enjoy these facilities? We are proud of what we’ve built for Delhi’s students,” she said.

Sisodia was questioned for over three hours on Friday by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in an alleged Rs 2,000-crore classroom construction scam. The case involves allegations of inflated costs in the building of classrooms and other infrastructure in Delhi government schools during Sisodia’s tenure as the Education Minister.

Sisodia reached the ACB office around 11 am and left the office around 2:30 pm. Officials said his statement was recorded in the presence of an independent witness as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to the ACB, the case was registered under Section 13(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
