Australian varsity, IIT-Delhi launch joint PhD programme
The University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-Delhi) have announced the commencement of admissions for their prestigious joint PhD programme, scheduled to start in July 2025. The application deadline is set for March 18, 2025, and interested candidates can register for information sessions on February 25 and March 4, 2025, hosted by IIT-Delhi. The registration for these sessions can be completed via uqiitd.org/events/.
The programme is open to exceptional candidates from various fields, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, humanities and social sciences. Successful applicants will gain a unique opportunity to conduct research at both UQ’s Brisbane campus and IIT-Delhi, spending one year at UQ and three years at IIT-Delhi. This structure offers valuable international research exposure, enhancing the academic experience for all participants.
Currently, more than 100 students are enrolled in the programme, which stands out due to its higher fellowship amount compared to standard domestic programmes.
Successful PhD candidates will also receive scholarships for up to four years, depending on their full-time study commitment.
Furthermore, the UQ-IITD Research Academy has partnered with industry leader ‘The Weir Group’ to support cutting-edge research in slurry transportation, offering a new PhD project.
