Rekha unveils six electric bus charging stations, sports complex in Outer Delhi

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated six modern Switching Sub-Stations to strengthen Delhi’s electric bus charging network and a Rs 3.5 crore sports complex in Hirankudna village, Outer Delhi, while announcing a mega event on September 30 where Union Home Minister Amit Shah will dedicate projects worth over Rs 4,500 crore for Yamuna’s revival.

The six Sub-Stations, developed by BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TPDDL), are located at Peeragarhi, Nangloi, Ambedkar Nagar, Srinivaspuri, Okhla Central Workshop, and Narela. Together, they will power nearly 1,170 electric buses in the capital. Officials said the state-of-the-art facilities feature Li-ion battery sets, dual infeed sources, SCADA RTU panels and modern switchgear to ensure reliable and sustainable operations.

“This is not about announcements, but delivery. Six inaugurations in a single day show our intent to work, not just talk,” Gupta said, crediting the synergy between the Power and Transport departments.

The CM revealed that on September 30, Shah will inaugurate Asia’s largest STP at Okhla along with 46 schemes of sewer lines, STPs, and reservoirs, worth more than Rs 4,500 crore, under the Yamuna river revival mission.

Earlier in the day, Gupta also inaugurated a sports complex at CM Shri School, Hirankudna, featuring a 200-m track, jump and throw arenas, volleyball court, multipurpose sports field, and modern amenities. “Rural youth are full of talent and determination. It is our duty to provide them with world-class facilities,” she said, noting that nearly Rs 20,000 crore of Delhi’s Rs 1 lakh crore budget has been allocated to education and sports infrastructure.
