The Delhi Government will organise a one-day Swadeshi Celebration in Central Delhi in the second week of October to promote local goods during the festive season, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced on Monday.

The event will feature around 100 stalls showcasing products from micro-entrepreneurs, artisans, women-led self-help groups, startups, exporters and One District One Product (ODOP) makers. Units from Tihar Jail will also participate. The stalls will allow buyers to interact directly with producers, view live demonstrations, and purchase items for household and festive use.

Sirsa said the government wanted residents to shift festive shopping demand from imported goods to locally produced items. “Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, I ask every Delhite to choose swadeshi first this season — one local choice today can secure a livelihood tomorrow and make Delhi the torchbearer of India’s shift to Swadeshi,” he said.

The event is aligned with the national Vocal for Local and Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaigns.
