Shah to unveil Delhi Jal Board projects worth Rs 1,800 cr today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate and lay the stone of multiple Delhi Jal Board (DJB) projects worth over Rs 1,800 crore on Tuesday.

The event is being held as part of Seva Pakhwada, which is being observed nationwide till October 2.

The projects include Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) upgrading, installation of new Booster Pumping Stations, laying of sewer lines and a provision of household sewer connections across different parts of Delhi.

“Tomorrow, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects of the Delhi Jal Board worth more than Rs 1,800 crore. These works related to Sewage Treatment Plant, Booster Pumping Station and sewer connections will make the lives of Delhi residents even more convenient,” Shah in a post on X wrote.

According to the DJB, the main inauguration event will take place at Keshopur where the board is augmenting two of its existing STPs at the cost of Rs 504.12 crore.

These plants will handle the full sewage load of West Delhi, catering to approximately 25 lakh households.

Water Minister Parvesh Verma also announced that, in the recent board meeting, several projects for setting up decentralised sewage treatment plants (DSTPs) were approved.

“The DSTP projects will be set up where traditional plants can not be instakked. We plan to connect every household to the sewerage infrastructure network. These DSTPs will benefit approximately 11 lakh people,” Verma said.
