The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested a 29-year-old terrorist linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in connection with a grenade attack case reported in Punjab’s Batala earlier this year, a senior police officer confirmed on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Akash Deep alias Akash Singh, was also wanted in an illegal arms trafficking case registered in Delhi. “More details will be shared in due course of time,” the officer added.

The arrest is linked to a suspected grenade attack on April 6 at Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala. The incident was later claimed on social media by BKI operative Happy Passia, who alleged that a rocket launcher was used in the attack targeting the vicinity of the police station.

However, the Punjab Police, in its initial investigation, reported no evidence of an explosion at the police station premises.

Notably, the extradition process is currently underway for Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, a gangster-turned-terrorist with known links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He is being extradited from the United States.
