BJP confident of double-engine govt in Capital
As the Election Commission announced the date for the Delhi Assembly elections, the Delhi BJP expressed confidence that the Capital will get a double-engine government on February 8.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva reaffirmed the party’s commitment to winning the elections, stating, “On February 8, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the lotus will bloom in Delhi.”
Sachdeva took aim at the opposition, asserting that those who had been “inflating balloons of lies” and attempting to pressure election officials with threats have now been silenced.
“We welcome the date set by the Election Commission. People of Delhi are resolute in their determination to oust this corrupt and plundering ‘AAP-da’ government,” he added.
He also outlined the BJP’s preparedness for the elections, emphasising that the party had mobilised workers at all 13,033 booths across Delhi.
“Our workers are actively engaging in door-to-door communication, checking voters’ lists and highlighting the failures of the Kejriwal government over the past 10 years,” Sachdeva said.
“The voice of Delhi’s people resonates with the need for change. The BJP is coming to power, and ‘AAP-da’ is leaving,” he said.
BJP leaders said though the elections would be held mid-week, it would witness high voter turnout.
Arvinder Singh Lovely, BJP candidate from Gandhi Nagar, said: “After PM Narendra Modi’s address in Rohini, people of Delhi are in full mood to kick out the corrupt and fake AAP. People are tired of hearing Kejriwal’s accusations without delivering on his promises.”
BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said: “I am confident that the people of Delhi will vote for development. They will vote for the BJP. A liar has been sitting as the CM of Delhi for over a decade now, making all sorts of fake promises.”
Meanwhile, the Congress has also expressed its intention to return to power after a decade, with Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav asserting that the election date marks the end of the “sins of corruption and misrule” by both the BJP and AAP.
“People’s desire to see the Congress back in power will be realised,” Yadav said, adding that the party aims to tackle the city’s pollution, garbage issues, and lawlessness.
“This is the date to end toxic, unbreathable air, rid Delhi of heaps of garbage, purify the polluted Yamuna and free Delhi from crime and lawlessness,” said Yadav.
Yadav, who is also the Congress candidate from Badli, promised several initiatives under a potential Congress government, including Rs 2,500 ‘Pyari Didi Yojna’ for women and plans to open the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ to the public, where a poor family could stay each day.
“The Congress will implement these promises for the betterment of Delhi,” Yadav said.
Alka Lamba, Congress candidate from Kalkaji, said: “I want to congratulate 1.25 crore people of Delhi. Their wait is over now. The Congress is going to free you from the poor law and order situation, poisonous gas and unemployment. The Congress will give you a permanent Chief Minister and permanent solutions to the issues of Delhi. The Congress is directly competing with AAP in Delhi. The BJP will finish at the third position.”
