Delhi BJP leaders on Tuesday sharply criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers for publicly mocking Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over a verbal error wherein she mistakenly referred to the AQI level as temperature. The BJP said the reaction from the AAP amounted to petty politics and accused the opposition of attempting to divert public attention from what it called the current government’s strong measures to curb pollution.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said the people of Delhi were shocked to see senior AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjeev Jha ridicule the CM over such a minor verbal error, adding that Delhiites expected accountability instead from the party’s former leadership. “Delhiites want to ask these AAP leaders that if they are mocking the CM over a minor slip, then they should first answer for the serious blunders made by Kejriwal over the past years,” Kapoor stated.

Kapoor said the BJP’s social media department has uploaded nine clips of Kejriwal’s past incorrect statements on X and demanded a response from the party. “The AAP leaders should respond to them. I demand that Kejriwal himself respond to these,” he added.

According to Kapoor, the video compilation highlights a series of verbal slip ups, allegedly made by the former CM during public speeches and press interactions over the years. The slip ups include Keriwal saying that they have to “make Delhi the best country in the world” and in another speech, Kejriwal saying “we extract milk from bulls”.
