BJP MP Bittu slams AAP on comments by MLA Rituraj Jha
BJP MP Ravneet Singh Bittu slammed AAP and party convener Arvind Kejriwal over the remarks made by MLA Rituraj Jha against Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday.
“Our gurus have fought the Mughals, and today AAP is linking the Sikh community with the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. There seems to be a conspiracy of vote bank politics. This is an unacceptable and intentional insult to Sikhs and Punjabis. Wherever they (AAP) go, people from the community will protest, question them and we will personally as well question such a vile mentality,” Bittu told media.
The BJP, AAP sparred over comments made by latter's MLA Rituraj Jha in a TV debate show. The former accused the leader of "insulting" the Sikh community by issuing a controversial statement against Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The saffron party also demanded an apology from him.
BJP national spokesperson Sardar RP Singh and another Sikh leader Impreet Bakshi, claimed in a joint statement, that Jha called Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators "Puri's relatives".
"This is not only an insult to him but also the entire Sikh community. AAP MLA Rituraj Jha must immediately apologise to the Sikh community and Sardar Hardeep Singh Puri," they said.
Meanwhile, AAP, in a statement, said that it was “baffling” that BJP leaders were talking about Sikhs after spending years abusing them, calling them terrorists.
“A Sikh farmer has been on hunger strike against the BJP since November, but they couldn't make time to meet him once?” it added.
The party also reiterated its remark that the Minister had announced in 2022 to give refuge to Rohingyas in Delhi.
“The entire country has been infested by illegal immigrants from Bangladesh because of BJP’s lapses. The BJP has failed both on external and internal security, they are running away from answering questions on their failures,” the statement concluded.
