BJP MP questions delay in skill varsity construction

BJP MP from South Delhi, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, raised concerns in the Lok Sabha over the prolonged delay in constructing the World Class Skill University in Jaunapur village. He highlighted that despite an agreement between India and Singapore in 2012 and the allocation of 38 acres of land, the project remains incomplete, depriving thousands of Delhi’s youth of skill development and employment opportunities.

Bidhuri stated that after Narendra Modi’s government came to power in 2014, the land use was changed to facilitate construction. In 2017, Rs 254 crore was sanctioned for the project, and construction began in 2018. However, six months later, the Forest Department raised objections, bringing the work to a halt.

“The land use had already been changed, yet the project has been stalled for years. If the university had been built, many young people from Delhi, especially rural areas, would have gained skills and job opportunities in India and abroad,” Bidhuri said.

He urged the government to take immediate steps to remove the hurdles so that the university can be completed without further delay.
