Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya on Friday criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia after an election affidavit revealed his son did not attend a government school, which AAP claims to have revolutionised in the last decade. Malviya pointed out Sisodia’s son attended a private school and is now studying in Canada, asking why he was not sent to a government school or to college in Delhi using public transport.

He also questioned why Sisodia took Rs 1.5 crore educational loan for his son’s studies, not from a bank, but from individuals, labelling AAP leaders and ministers as hypocrites. “They only do politics in the name of students but do nothing for them,” Malviya wrote on X.

Sisodia’s affidavit, which was reviewed by this newspaper, disclosed the loan, taken in his wife Seema’s name, was given by three individuals — Romesh Chander Mittal, Guneet Arora and Deepali. Sisodia, who is contesting his fourth Assembly election from Jangpura rather than his traditional Patparganj seat in East Delhi, filed his nomination on Thursday. He expressed confidence the support Arvind Kejriwal’s team has received across Delhi would remain strong in this election.

The affidavit also declared Sisodia’s annual personal income as Rs 5.21 lakh and total family assets of approximately Rs 41 lakh, which has risen to Rs 57 lakh in the current 2025 election filing.
