Ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP has released an ‘Aarop Patra’ (chargesheet) against the AAP government, accusing it of making false promises and failing to deliver on key governance fronts. The chargesheet, presented by BJP MP Anurag Singh Thakur, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, and other party leaders, lists multiple allegations of mismanagement, corruption and inefficiencies under the leadership of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Addressing the media, Anurag Thakur criticised Kejriwal for neglecting the needs of the common man while amassing wealth for the party. He remarked, “The wounds inflicted by Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party on Delhi are countless. AAP has become a party for a select few, while Delhi has suffered. In the last 10 years, Delhi has been plagued with broken roads, pollution, and contaminated water, while Kejriwal remains indifferent to the city’s plight.”
BJP does not have a CM face: Kejri
In response to the BJP’s chargesheet, Kejriwal stated, “BJP has no agenda to contest elections. They are issuing chargesheets against me. But they do not even have a chief ministerial candidate for Delhi”.
BJP holds employment fair
Delhi BJP held a youth employment fair at Talkatora Stadium on Monday to provide job opportunities to slum dwellers. Over 4,000 youths from slums took part, with 1,445 set to receive job offers.
Thakur accused the AAP government of failing to fulfil its promises, particularly in education and water supply. “Kejriwal promised world-class education, yet over 2 lakh children remain out of school. He promised 24-hour clean water, but people are forced to drink contaminated water or buy it from tankers. Delhi is now number one in expensive water, pollution, and garbage,” Thakur stated.
In the chargesheet, the BJP accused AAP of a series of failures, including the mismanagement of the Delhi Jal Board, the Delhi health sector, and the education system. The document highlighted issues such as Rs 52 crore spent on Kejriwal’s luxurious residence while Delhi continued to suffer from basic infrastructural deficiencies.
Thakur also criticised AAP for the rise of illegal water tanker mafia, which forced citizens to spend exorbitant amounts on water, contrary to AAP’s promises of free water supply.
Referring Thakur pointed out that over 15 AAP leaders, including ministers and MLAs, had been arrested in various corruption cases. “This government is a government of prisons,” Thakur remarked, referring to the numerous AAP leaders who have faced legal issues during their tenure.
The BJP also raised concerns about the AAP government’s environmental policies. He further criticised the government for failing to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which would have provided health coverage to millions of Delhi’s poor residents.
According to the BJP, Delhi has turned into India’s ‘garbage capital’, with the AAP government’s mismanagement leading to mountains of trash and delays in addressing the Ghazipur landfill crisis.
The chargesheet ended with a call for accountability, demanding that Kejriwal and his government be held responsible for the suffering of Delhi’s citizens. “The people of Delhi have been betrayed by AAP,” Thakur concluded. “It is time for a change.”
To further amplify their campaign, the BJP has also launched a website, www.10saaldillibehaal.com, to bring attention to the alleged mismanagement and failures of the AAP government over the past decade.
