BJP’s Parvesh, Bidhuri, Gahlot among 32 submit nominations

A total of 32 BJP candidates, including Parvesh Verma, Ramesh Bidhuri and Kailash Gahlot, filed their nomination papers for the Delhi Assembly elections here on Wednesday.

Parvesh Verma, BJP candidate from the New Delhi constituency, was accompanied by party’s national vice-president Baijayant Jay Panda and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj during the nomination process.

While addressing the media, Verma said: “With everyone’s blessings, I am filing my nomination today. We will ensure that Arvind Kejriwal’s security deposit is forfeited. He betrayed the poor and did nothing for slum dwellers. People here are with us.”

Before filing his papers, Verma visited Gauri Shankar Temple in Chandni Chowk to offer prayers.

Ramesh Bidhuri, who is contesting from the Kalkaji constituency, was joined by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri.

Ramesh Bidhuri accused former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of being involved in conspiracies and misleading the public.

“Kejriwal keeps orchestrating schemes and spreading false propaganda. He is the same Kejriwal who once vowed never to align with the Congress. Now, Rahul Gandhi, who was campaigning for him just months ago, is criticising him,” said Bidhuri.

Kailash Gahlot, BJP’s candidate from Bijwasan, also filed his nomination and raised concerns over the Delhi government’s financial management.

“The CAG report indicates a loss of around Rs 2,000 crore in the liquor scam, which is alarming,” said Gahlot, emphasising that public funds should be spent responsibly.

Meanwhile, Satish Upadhyay, BJP candidate from Malviya Nagar, held a roadshow ahead of filing his nomination. Boxer and party leader Vijender Singh joined the roadshow, urging supporters to back Upadhyay.

“He is a person with a clean image and will serve Delhi well. Stay away from those who deceive you, whether from AAP or Congress. They are stores of lies and alcohol,” said Singh. Upadhyay was also accompanied by Sachdeva and Bansuri Swaraj during the filing of nominations.

National General Secretary of the BJP, Dushyant Gautam, also filed his nomination from Karol Bagh. He was accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Bansuri Swaraj.

Other BJP leaders who filed their nominations on Wednesday included Vijender Gupta from Rohini, Om Prakash Sharma from Vishwas Nagar, Ajay Mahawar from Ghonda, Abhay Verma from Laxmi Nagar, Jitender Mahajan from Rohtas Nagar, Tarvinder Singh Maewah from Jangpura, Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh, and Ashok Goel from Model Town.
