Verma defeated the ruling AAP’s top leader and national convener Arvind Kejriwal by a close margin of 4,089 votes. The 47-year-old BJP leader has successfully carried forward his family’s political legacy, which has a number of politicians, including his father and former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma.

Over the years, he has become a significant force in Delhi’s political arena. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for West Delhi from 2014 to 2024. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Verma achieved a historic victory, winning the West Delhi seat with the highest-ever margin in the constituency’s history —5.78 lakh votes.

Parvesh Verma first contested the Delhi Assembly elections in 2013 from the Mehrauli constituency, where he secured a victory with a margin of 4,564 votes, defeating AAP’s Narinder Singh Sejwal. He also triumphed over Congress leader Yoganand Shastri, incumbent MLA and Assembly Speaker.

Born on November 7, 1977, Parvesh Verma’s early involvement in politics can be traced back to his roots in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he served as ‘Shakha Pramukh’ in Keshavpuram. His political journey continued as he became a national executive member of the Delhi Janata Yuva Morcha. Verma played an active role in the Delhi BJP Election Committee during the 2013 Assembly polls, a stepping stone to his active participation in electoral politics.

A graduate of Kirori Mal College at Delhi University, Verma also holds an MBA degree from the Fore School of Management. His personal life is equally notable. He is married to Swati Singh, daughter of former Union Minister and BJP leader Vikram Verma. The couple has three children. Parvesh Verma is also deeply involved in his family’s political endeavours, notably campaigning for his mother-in-law Neena Verma, who is an MLA in Madhya Pradesh from the Dhar constituency. Parvesh actively supported her during the 2023 Madhya Pradesh elections.
