Amid the nine-year mark of the Arvind Kejriwal government’s tenure, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has raised significant concerns regarding a series of alleged scandals and mismanagement under the AAP governance.
Sachdeva has outlined nine major issues, including worries about medicine quality, contracts and infrastructure projects, allegedly accusing the administration of breaching public trust.
Firstly, he highlighted the issue of poor-quality medicines and fraudulent lab testing practices, which posed grave risks to public health. He said, “The revelation of substandard drugs and manipulated testing data underscored systemic failures within the healthcare system.”
Secondly, Sachdeva raised concerns about overpriced contracts in Delhi Jal Board projects, alleging financial irregularities and biased bidding processes in sewage treatment plant contracts. The third scandal revolved around the exorbitant reconstruction cost of Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, which far exceeded initial estimates.
Sachdeva pointed to potential financial mismanagement and misuse of taxpayer funds in the project. Delving further, Sachdeva shed light on the Delhi Waqf Board recruitment scam, where illegal recruitments and financial irregularities tarnished the reputation of the AAP leadership.
He also addressed the disproportionate assets scandal involving minister Satyendar Jain, highlighting serious allegations of breaching public trust. Additionally, Sachdeva revealed the failure of the panic button initiative, intended for women and child safety in public vehicles, which resulted in the misappropriation of funds.
Another scandal unveiled by Sachdeva was the Delhi school classroom construction scam, exposing mismanagement and financial irregularities in government school infrastructure projects.
Corruption within the excise policy framework, leading to significant losses to the exchequer, was another point of concern raised by Sachdeva.
Finally, he touched upon the DTC bus purchase scam, citing corruption in procuring low-floor buses and raising questions about irregularities in the tender process. Sachdeva allegedly asserted, “The people of Delhi have resolved to remove the Kejriwal government in the 2025 Assembly elections,” signalling a potential shift in the city’s political landscape.
