Sharma defeated AAP’s Hema, councillor from Jaitpur, by a margin of 35 votes. Out of a total of 227 votes cast, Sharma secured 130 votes against Hema's 95, with two votes declared invalid.

Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh congratulated Sharma on her win and highlighted her extensive political experience, stating it would be an asset to the civic body. He also praised Hema for her spirited competition, acknowledging the strong challenge posed by the AAP candidate.

Sharma, representing Ward 226 (Gautampuri), will now join the key Standing Committee, which plays a crucial role in the MCD’s financial and policy decisions. The committee has remained largely inactive for over two and a half years, making Sharma’s entry significant for the corporation’s functioning.

Hema, councillor from Ward 184 (Jaitpur), received 95 votes in the closely contested election.
