A 14-year-old boy drowned in floodwater while fishing with his friends near Shastri Park on Friday evening, the police said on Sunday.

After getting information, a police team, along with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, reached the spot.

The boy, a resident of the Shastri Park area, went to the Yamuna banks with his friends. He was rescued and taken to JPC Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination. A case in this regard has been registered at the Shastri Park police station and further investigation has been initiated.
