Bribe allegations: Will file defamation suits against Atishi, AAP MP: Cong’s Dikshit
Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Tuesday announced that he will file defamation suits against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh following their allegations that he took money from the BJP.
Addressing a press conference here, Dikshit strongly rejected the accusations and accused the AAP of targeting him and his family for over a decade.
“Five to six days ago, Delhi CM Atishi said that I am taking a huge amount of money from the BJP. For the past 10-12 years, they have targeted the Congress, me and my family,” Dikshit said.
“I have several questions for AAP that go back over the past 10-12 years," he said.
The former East Delhi MP, who is contesting against AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, also referred to an alleged meeting between BJP leaders and Kejriwal shortly after he became the Chief Minister.
“BJP’s Vijay Kumar Malhotra told me about a meeting where the BJP delegation asked Kejriwal for evidence against the Sheila Dikshit government. Kejriwal showed 360 newspaper cuttings. He is the first person to give newspaper cuttings as an evidence," Dikshit claimed.
Dikshit said: “The day CM Atishi said we are taking money from the BJP coincided with the passing of former PM Manmohan Singh. So, we could not hold a press conference”.
Dikshit threatened legal action, stating that he would pursue both criminal and civil defamation cases against Atishi and Sanjay Singh. “I will ask them to give me Rs 10 crore. I will donate Rs 5 crore for Yamuna cleaning and Rs 5 crore for the issue of pollution in Delhi," he said.
Dikshit also criticised Kejriwal for the welfare schemes announced by AAP ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. “Why are they implementing all this now? Why didn’t they do this earlier? They’ve been in government for the past 5 years," Dikshit remarked.
“I want to ask him if he becomes the CM again, will he still not be able to sign any files and implement all schemes he has been promising? He will not be able to distribute even a penny as the CM," Dikshit concluded.
