New Delhi: The body of a boy was recovered from a drain outside his residence in Ashok Vihar area, the police said on Monday. Prince was playing near his house on Sunday afternoon when he went missing, they said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Jitendra Meena said a search was conducted soon after the missing complaint was received on Sunday. While the search was on, someone informed the police that Prince was seen playing near a drain which was not covered. The body was recovered from the drain the same evening, Meena said, the body has been handed over to his family after the postmortem examination and further probe is underway. PTI
Three children sustain burns
Gurugram: Three children sustained burn injuries after coming into contact with a high-tension wire while flying kites in Jharsa’s Prempuri colony on Monday. The children, aged between eight and 11 years, were referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi with 25 to 30 per cent burns. According to the police, Nitish and Satyam, both brothers, along with their neighbour Ahsan, were flying kites when their kite got entangled in the nearby high-tension wire. While attempting to free it, a spark from the wire fell on them, causing the injuries. OC
Rakhi celebrated at Jama Masjid
New Delhi: Several students from the Delhi University celebrated Rakhsha Bandhan by tying rakhi to passersby, including Muslim men, women and children at old Delhi’s Jama Masjid on Monday. The event ‘Saampradaayik Sauhard ki Rakhi Baandho’ was organised by the members of the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan, a Delhi University students’ body representing the working class and marginalised sections.
