A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was arrested for robbing a Delhi jewellery shop in broad daylight using a toy pistol, after reportedly incurring losses in online gambling, the police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Gaurav Yadav, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, had completed his BSF training only a month ago and was posted in Fazilka, Punjab.
The case dates back to June 19, when a PCR call was received at Farsh Bazar Police Station in Shahdara reporting that a man had robbed four gold bracelets from a jewellery shop after threatening staff with a pistol.
The breakthrough came following multiple enquiries through the police’s NATGRID system, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused from his residence in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.
