Following its resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP is now focusing on key initiatives aimed at reshaping the capital city.
Party sources revealed that the top three priorities for the newly formed BJP government will be presenting the 14 pending CAG reports, implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and addressing the pollution in the Yamuna river.
A party official confirmed, “The top three priorities right now would be presenting the pending 14 CAG reports in the first meeting, implementing Ayushman Bharat in the capital, and cleaning the Yamuna.”
Performance Audit on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi for 2017-18 to 2021-22, Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services for 2023 and Performance Audit Report on Children in Need of Care and Protection for 2018-19 to 2020-21 are among 14 pending CAG reports, which are expected to be presented in the first Assembly session under the new BJP leadership.
Another significant move is the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Delhi. The BJP has long criticised the AAP government for not adopting the Centre’s health insurance initiative. The AAP had argued that free treatment facilities were already available in Delhi’s government hospitals and Mohalla Clinics, making the Ayushman Bharat Scheme of no use. However, BJP leaders claim that the scheme was politically blocked by the AAP. Now, under their leadership, it will be rolled out.
On the issue of pollution in the Yamuna, Parvesh Verma, who defeated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, said a decisive plan would be set in motion immediately. “A decision is this regard will be made in the first Cabinet meeting itself,” he had said, signaling that action on cleaning the river will be prioritised.
In addition to these major concerns, the BJP is also looking at addressing Delhi’s overflowing sewage system, water quality and garbage issues on a constituency-by-constituency basis. The party aims to tackle these urban problems systematically, starting with the most pressing issues in each area.
