Campus notes: Achievers United at SGGSCC tomorrow

New Delhi: URJA, the commerce society of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC) is set to host Achievers United’24 on February 23. With a diverse array of speakers and performers, including CEOs, finance experts, social media influencers, comedians and singers, the event aims to provide students a dynamic platform for networking and motivation.

Debate at Atma Ram college

As part of its annual flagship event POLIFORUM’24, the Association of Political Science, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, is set to host a bilingual debate competition, VAGYUDDHA 2.0 on March 5 at the college. Registration fee is Rs 115 per team. The competition aims to foster critical thinking and dialogue among participants.

Inspection of school bags mandated

The Delhi Government’s Directorate of Education has issued a circular mandating schools in the region to form committees to conduct surprise inspection of students’ school bags. The directive aims to ensure that students do not carry any items that can be potentially harmful for themselves or their peers. Schools must ensure that security guards regularly inspect bags at entry gates and CCTV cameras installed on campus are operational. Also, administrators must oversee inspections to minimise the risk of untoward incidents.

IIT postpones mid-semester exams

The IIT-Delhi has postponed mid-semester exams, following the death of an MTech student by suicide. Examinations that were originally scheduled from February 21 to 24 will now be held from February 26 to 29. An email from the administration cited the incident’s impact on students’ mental well-being as the reason for rescheduling exams. The decision came after consultations with student representatives, who reached a consensus to delay exams. Besides, no classes or labs will be held during remaining days of the week.

New courses at Gurugramvarsity soon

Gurugram: Gurugram University is set to launch 10 new courses in this academic session. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar said all these courses will be based on the New Education Policy-2020. The new courses are BTech in Electrical Engineering, BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, BArch, MCA, Integrated MCA, MSc Computer Science (AI and Data Science), Bachelor of Design in Interior Design, Master of Design in Interior Design, MSc in Medical Physics and BSc in Nursing. All these courses have been authorised by the university’s academic council and the executive council.
