New Delhi: Indraprastha University (IPU) will organise its 16th Convocation on its Dwarka campus on March 5. Delhi Lieutenant-Governor and university’s Chancellor VK Saxena will preside over the function while Niti Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam will be the chief guest. Education Minister Atishi and Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar will be the guests of honour and Higher Education Secretary Alice Vaz R will be the distinguished guest. According to Controller of Examination Prof Gulshan Kumar, 24,708 degrees, including 82 PhDs, and 77 gold medals will be conferred. A gold medal in the memory of the former registrar of the university Late BP Joshi and the Sidharth Khitolia Award will also be given on the occasion.
Discussion on Uniform Civil Code
The ABVP on Sunday organised an event focusing on the imperative need for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in India, at the Periyar Mess in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Bansuri Swaraj, who has been announced as BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from the New Delhi seat, was the chief guest. Dr Ravi Rameshchandra Shukla, an associate professor at JNU, was the special guest. Swaraj said, “The UCC is necessary for gender justice, equality and fraternity. It will provide equal rights and opportunities to all citizens, irrespective of their religion or community, and will work to protect women’s rights.” Dr Shukla highlighted the historical precedence and constitutional alignment of the UCC, emphasising its relevance in contemporary India. Dr Ayushi Ketkar stressed UCC’s significance in empowering women.
