Chaos erupts in Delhi MC House as AAP, BJP councillors clash
A Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House meeting descended into chaos on Monday as AAP and BJP councillors engaged in a heated showdown, chanting slogans, tearing agenda papers and climbing onto tables. The disruption led to an abrupt adjournment of the session.
The meeting, which started late, was set to discuss key civic matters, including overdue payments for feeding cattle in four cow shelters, expediting road development projects in South Delhi and hiring additional manpower for the Horticulture Department. However, tensions flared soon after proceedings began.
BJP councillors demanded an immediate vote, claiming that AAP no longer held a majority in the House. In response, AAP members accused the BJP of “murdering” the Constitution, leading to a shouting match between the two sides.
Amid the ruckus, councillors tore agenda papers and waved them in protest, further disrupting the meeting. With order impossible to restore, the House was adjourned, leaving the proposed discussions unresolved.
