A 14-year-old boy, a student of Class IX, was stabbed to death by a group of seven persons, including five juveniles, outside a school in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area, a senior police officer said on Saturday. The murder allegedly stemmed from an act of revenge over a petty issue.

The Delhi Police arrested seven persons, including five juveniles, in this regard. The accused have been identified as Saarthi (19) and Aman Kumar (31). Saarthi and Aman are relatives of one of the accused who called them to settle scores with the victim.

The altercation started over playing dodgeball game where players throw balls and hit opponents while avoiding being hit themselves. The victim hit one of the prime accused with the ball while playing which enraged the latter to the extent that he called his two uncles to settle the matter.

Sharing details, DCP (East) Abhishek Dhaniya said they received information around 6 pm on Friday about the incident, which took place at Rajkiya Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya No. 2 (RSBV-2), Shakarpur, Delhi, during the dispersal of students after extra classes for Classes IX to XII.

“The victim was stabbed with a knife on his right thigh outside the school gate by a group of persons. He was initially administered first aid by the school and then rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during the treatment,” the DCP said. The police registered a case of murder and formed teams to nab the accused at the earliest.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the students of the same school had reportedly borrowed a mobile phone from another student and made a call to his uncle and mentioned a personal dispute with the victim. He even instructed him to “send people” to resolve the matter.

“When students were exiting the campus, the accused was seen waiting outside the main gate with 3-4 individuals,” the DCP said. One of them then engaged in an argument and then stabbed the victim who then succumbed to his injuries.

The cops identified the assailants on the basis of CCTV footage and eyewitness. They apprehended all of them while they were trying to flee the city. “We have also recovered the murder weapon,” the officer said.
