A Class 6 girl student allegedly ended her life in Shani Enclave, Bhondsi area, the police said, adding that the incident took place late on Tuesday. According to the investigation, the 12-year-old girl took the extreme step as her mother asked her to study. The deceased was the student of a government school in Naya village.
She was found hanging by her younger siblings. The police said the body was handed over to the family on Wednesday after a postmortem and a probe was underway. A senior police officer said no suicide note was recovered from the spot.
According to the police, the girl’s mother works as a domestic help and her father is a daily-wage labourer.
The police investigation so far has found that the deceased was playing with her siblings after returning from the school when her mother asked her to study and left the house. Later, the minor hanged herself and was first discovered by her younger siblings, who then informed the neighbours and the girl’s mother.
The senior police officer added that nothing suspicious has been found so far and if any such facts emerge, action will be taken accordingly.
