Class X girl befriends 3 men online; they extort Rs 80 lakh from her after taking her objectionable photos
Lakhs of rupees received in exchange of land acquisition became a bane for a family in Gurugram.
To grab the money, three miscreants befriended a minor daughter of the family who operated the bank account of her grandmother in which the money of land acquisition was deposited.
All three scammed her in online extortion after they got her mobile number and started speaking to her on the phone.
Knowing well she operates her grandma's account, they befriended her and took her objectionable photos and then blackmailed her by threatening to make her photos viral on social media.
Even after extorting around Rs 80 lakh from her, they did not stop, the girl narrated the story to her tuition teacher, after which the matter came to light.
The family complained to the police and a case was registered. The police arrested the three accused on Monday night.
The three are on a four-day police remand and have been identified as Kusha, Sumit Kataria, residents of Hayatpur village; and Sumit Tanwar, a resident of Khudana village in Mahendergarh.
The accused, Kusha, worked as a tube-well operator, while the two others were unemployed.
The family got lakhs of rupees in exchange of land acquisition, which were deposited in the account of the elderly woman.
It was in February that accused Sumit Kataria got in touch with the girl and shared her phone number with his friend Kusha and Sumit Tanwar. The accused first befriended her and after getting her objectionable pictures, they started blackmailing her.
The minor girl, a student of Class X, was scared and transferred around Rs 80 lakh in different bank accounts given by the accused from February to December.
A senior investigating officer said the third accused who got Rs 88,000 only from the girl was pressing her for more money.
According to the complaint filed by the 75-year-old woman, the money for land acquisition had come into her bank account. The online banking of her account was operated by her 15-year-old granddaughter. She said in her complaint that some people transferred around Rs 80 lakh from her account by threatening her granddaughter.
“We have taken all three accused on four days’ police remand after producing them in a city court and are questioning them," said the spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
