Chief Minister Atishi announced the foundation stone for the New Delhi Metro corridor from Rithala to Kundli would be laid on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in enhancing inter-state connectivity. Speaking at a press briefing, Atishi also revealed the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project, designed to link Delhi with neighbouring states, would be inaugurated alongside the extension of the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park.

"The new Rithala-Kundli metro corridor and the RRTS project are crucial steps in strengthening inter-state connectivity and alleviating transport challenges," Atishi stated. She also highlighted the Delhi Government has contributed Rs 1,260 crore to the RRTS project, which is being co-funded by the Centre and the state governments of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

The RRTS project aims to improve regional connectivity by establishing priority corridors linking Delhi with key cities in neighbouring states, including Alwar, Panipat and Meerut. Atishi emphasised the potential of these projects to address transport problems and stimulate economic growth across the region.

“The extension of the Magenta Line would also enhance accessibility in West Delhi, reducing travel time and making commuting more convenient,” she added. The expansion, she noted, would significantly benefit thousands of commuters, particularly those in areas such as Janakpuri West and Krishna Park.

The RRTS project is expected to transform public transport, not only within Delhi but across several neighbouring states. Atishi stressed the expanded transport network would help ease traffic congestion and drive economic development throughout Delhi and its surrounding regions.
