Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with her family. The meeting was described as cordial and productive, focusing on the capital’s development agenda, the ongoing Clean Yamuna campaign, and preparations for the upcoming Chhath festival. Emphasising her government’s commitment to restoring the Yamuna’s health, the Chief Minister said several initiatives were underway, including enhancing sewage treatment capacity, introducing modern wastewater treatment technologies, and strictly monitoring industrial discharge. “Green belts are being developed along the riverbanks, and strict measures have been enforced to prevent illegal waste dumping,” she added. The goal, she said, is to make the Yamuna “a clean and life-giving river for Delhi residents in the coming years.”

On preparations for Chhath Puja, Gupta informed the Prime Minister that the Delhi government was ensuring all necessary facilities for devotees. “Special ghats are being constructed on both banks of the Yamuna, with arrangements for lighting, sanitation, drinking water, security, medical care, and mobile toilets,” she said.

Officials have been directed to maintain water quality and cleanliness at all ghats for a smooth celebration.

During the meeting, the CM also updated the Prime Minister on various welfare and infrastructure projects across Delhi. “We are progressing rapidly in improving transportation, education, water supply, and urban redevelopment. New flyovers, underpasses, and connectivity projects are easing traffic flow, while the expansion of healthcare infrastructure and Ayushman Arogya centres is improving public health services,” she said.
