Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday laid the foundation stone for a clean drinking water project at the Chhawla BSF Camp in South-West Delhi, bringing relief to hundreds of Border Security Force personnel.

The new pipeline, connected to the Dwarka Water Treatment Plant, will ensure safe and reliable water not only for the BSF camp but also for nearby villages.

Marking the occasion, the CM celebrated Bhai Dooj with the jawans, calling them the “shield of the nation” and assuring that their welfare remains a top priority for her government. She also announced the construction of a synthetic track within the camp premises to support the fitness and training of soldiers.

“The Delhi Government is committed to improving infrastructure and living conditions for both soldiers and civilians,” said Gupta, adding that projects addressing the welfare and training of armed personnel were being prioritised.

The new water pipeline, she said, will “bring much-needed relief to thousands of residents and the BSF personnel.”

Gupta shared that she had learned about the water shortage during an earlier visit to the camp and had vowed to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers, the Chief Minister said his belief that the armed forces are part of India’s extended family motivates her government’s efforts. “While our soldiers safeguard the country, the Prime Minister leads its development and progress. Together, they are shaping India into a ‘Viksit Rashtra’ and a ‘Vishwa Guru’,” she added.
