CM Rekha Gupta flags off ‘Tiranga Cyclothon for Girls’

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday flagged off the “Tiranga Cyclothon for Girls” from the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

Calling for a shift from merely “saving” or “educating” daughters to empowering them, she said the Delhi Government is committed to helping every girl realise her potential — whether as a District Magistrate, scientist, sportsperson, or any other role that brings honour to the country.

Despite the drizzle, the schoolgirls successfully completed the ride to Rajghat, joining the Chief Minister in raising chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” that echoed across the cloudy skies. Gupta also encouraged the participants to pledge to grow from being Delhi’s daughters to becoming the daughters of India.

Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the importance of empowering girls for the overall development of the country and hailed their resolve and courage. He noted that the route of the cyclothon had witnessed historic moments such as the Dandi March, and urged girls to link Independence Day celebrations with the Swachhata campaign by keeping their surroundings clean.

Later in the day, Gupta joined Members of Parliament at the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ MPs bike rally from Bharat Mandapam, alongside Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Sanjay Seth. The rally, part of the nationwide campaign to inspire citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes, marked a spirited build-up to Independence Day.
