Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday inaugurated the renovated MLA lounge at the Delhi Secretariat, which remained shut for several years under previous administrations.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Gupta said the revamped lounge would offer MLAs a peaceful, well-equipped space to meet, work and coordinate with officials to address constituency issues

more effectively.

“Previous governments believed in isolation, not dialogue. So, this lounge was shut for years,”

she said.

She said the inauguration of this MLA lounge would further strengthen administrative efficiency and enhance the working environment within the Secretariat. “This is the difference between the previous government and our present one,” she added.

The Chief Minister said the new lounge is designed to help legislators engage directly with departmental officers, hold meetings on local issues and resolve grievances swiftly.

“Under the previous government, MLAs were not even allowed inside the Chief Minister’s office. Officials faced restrictions and journalists found it difficult to access the Secretariat. We have changed all that,” she said.

Highlighting her government’s inclusive approach, CM Gupta said the Secretariat now welcomes everyone — from MLAs and officials to staff and the media — to freely interact

and collaborate.

The newly inaugurated MLA lounge is furnished with modern amenities and designed to provide a calm yet functional environment. The Chief Minister emphasised that such facilities strengthen administrative efficiency and allow MLAs to focus on developmental work in their constituencies without unnecessary hurdles.

“This lounge is not just a practical workspace, but a beautifully designed and well-equipped environment, offering MLAs a positive and productive atmosphere,” she said, reaffirming her government’s commitment to building systems that empower elected representatives to serve the

people better.
