In a major drug bust at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), customs officials seized cocaine worth over Rs 82 crore, concealed in chocolate boxes. According to officials, the consignment was being carried by an Indian passenger who had arrived from Doha on August 6.
He was diverted to the green channel for an X-ray examination of his personal belongings and baggage.
During inspection, customs officers discovered the suspicious boxes, which were found to contain white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.
The passenger was arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985, and the seized substance, along with the packaging material, was confiscated. Further investigation is on underway to determine the origin and intended destination of the smuggled cocaine.
